We’ll take a look at the early research, comparing it to more recent studies and how it applies to the child’s and family’s occupations. Revitalizing the understanding of how we process information, this webinar will help therapists explain how and why the child responds to sensory stimuli in way that is easily understood. This will assist families help meet their child’s developmental needs, participate in family activities and understand how their child learns and engages for lifelong independence. Through teaching families and team members how to discern sensory responses encourages communication so that they look at the child’s specific needs, strengths and responses, and helps the team collaborate and develop goals that not only help the child, but also work within the framework of the family. This webinar will provide therapists with resources that will help them carry out sensory related goals and strategies with confidence and quality of care expected by families and team members.

  • What happens after a report is accepted?

Focusing on

  1. The ability of the state to intervene in families to protect children comes from the authority granted to the State by law. Both legislation and case law established by the courts set the limits of State intervention.
  2. While there are many laws guiding child protection and child welfare interventions, the most important in Illinois is the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act (ANCRA). Illinois and all other states require a wide range of professionals to report suspected child maltreatment.

These professionals and any other person required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect are called mandated reporters.
